Custom Jewelry Design

When customers select the finest performing signature diamonds in the world, they usually want their stones set in a custom-designed ring, bracelet, pendant or other jewelry piece that can make an even more personal statement. Take a look at our catalog for ideas and examples. Almost 95% of the jewelry and engagement rings in our catalog began as custom-designed pieces.

More than 30 years experience in custom design

Besides offering the finest performing diamonds in the world, Brian Gavin brings more than 30 years of experience in the creation of custom jewelry designs.  A decade ago, Brian was one of the first in the industry to introduce custom jewelry design on the Internet using CAD or computer-aided design programs used by engineers to create life-like, 3-dimensional representations of designs to help customers visualize what a finished piece would look like in advance.

Growing up in the diamond and jewelry industry, Brian was surrounded by creative and stimulating visual input and his ideas and thought processes were heavily influenced by his mother, Femma Gavin, a world-renowned artist.  Our customers say that Brian has an uncanny ability to "get inside their heads" and help them bring their ideas to life resulting in unique, finely crafted and exquisite custom jewelry.

Process

Here’s how your custom ring design process works:

Creating a truly custom engagement ring design is a collaboration, a step-by-step creative partnership between you and our expert designers. Because it’s a team effort, with you giving us feedback and approval at each step, the process ensures the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Step 1: Concept

Your new custom designed jewelry begins with an idea, a concept, a picture or drawing of something you like, or something you thought up yourself.  Then, we move in stages, step-by-step, carefully shaping and refining your original idea into a stunning, original fine jewelry creation.

Step 2: Quote

Based on your concept, we put together a detailed quotation of what it will cost to create your original jewelry design. This will include stone sizes, weights and specific details about materials to be used. We prefer to work with our own stones and materials. Customers who want us to use their stones in a design are required to submit a form that establishes mutually agreeable limits of liability. Insurance can be obtained for this purpose.

Step 3: Approval and Payment

Once we receive your approval on the custom design quote and receive payment in full, we take your concept and put your project into production.agreeable limits of liability. Insurance may be obtained for this purpose.

Step 4: CAD Model Rendering

Using your initial concept, we create a 3-dimensional CAD model rendering showing, in detail, what your final creation will look like.  This model is e-mailed to you for your review and approval, giving you the opportunity to visualize how the design will appear in 3-dimensional form.

Step 5: Design Approval

At this stage, we can make modifications and adjustments to the design based on any feedback from your review of the CAD model rendering. Once you sign off on the design, we start production.

Step 6: Wax Model and Final Preparations

At this point, a wax model will be created of your ring based on the CAD model rendering. The wax model is milled using state-of-the-art, computer-aided milling equipment and then cleaned by hand. Next, our skilled craftsmen cast and finish your custom engagement ring to Brian’s exacting standards.

Step 7: Completion and Delivery

Your finished piece is carefully inspected, photographed, and signed by Brian Gavin, and a set of a "Glamour Shots" is e-mailed to every customer. Your package is then shipped to you via FedEx overnight delivery.

..Brian, Okay so… I just love this more and more, the more I look at it! I'm so excited. And I can't believe how quickly you were able to just pop into my head and pull that out! Like magic. Seriously. No micro-management needed, just 'here's what I'm thinking' and POOF, perfect outline! YAY! It's just beautiful. Thank you, thank you, thank you...

...Hi Lesley/Brian, I saw pictures of the custom pendant that you guys did and it's simply lovely! It just happened that I am embarking on an earring project and wonder if you are interested to provide a quote…Thank you for your time. I can't wait for your new website to go up!!...

...Dear Brian and Lesley, Great to see you back!! I love that new custom necklace you are making, it's outstanding. I have a ring that I need to be redesigned. Not sure if this is something you'd take on or be interested in. Right now, I look at it, and go pretty stones, but the setting just is blah. Let me know your thoughts...
