Brian Gavin Signature Halo Engagement Ring

Diamond engagement rings for $6000

One of the obvious benefits of a higher budget is that it provides you with a wider variety of options in terms of carat weight, color, and clarity. If you prefer diamonds which are higher in clarity and color, there are quite a few options available within the $6000 price range that weigh a little less than a carat. And if you are open to the idea of diamonds which are a little warmer in color, there are many options available around the one carat mark which are absolutely amazing in terms of the volume of light return and sparkle factor which is comprised of brilliance, dispersion and scintillation.

Brian Gavin Signature CushionFor instance, you could pick up this 1.171 carat, L-color, SI-1 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond for $4,957.00 and then set it in a modified version of our U Prong Solitaire and come in just slightly over the six thousand dollar mark. Since diamonds that are L-color are slightly warmer in tone than diamonds in the near colorless range (G-H-I-J color) I think that I would set this diamond in rose gold, because “faint yellow diamonds” (K-L-M-N color) tend to look absolutely amazing in rose gold. Which by the way is simply a gold alloy which has a larger percentage of copper mixed with it instead of having more nickel and zinc.

The outside diameter of this Signature Cushion cut diamond is 7.13 x 5.88 x 4.32 mm, the first measurement represents the longest tip-to-tip measurement of the diamond, the second measurement is the shortest measurement across the diamond from edge-to-edge, and the last measurement is the depth of the diamond from top to bottom. These diamonds tend to face-up pretty close to square, so from edge-to-edge diamond is going to face-up a little smaller than a one carat round, which averages 6.50 mm in diameter, but from tip-to-tip it is going to face up larger.

Now if you’ve got your heart set on a round over the one carat mark, then this 1.022 carat, K-color, VS-1 clarity, Brian Gavin Blue diamond with medium blue fluorescence is currently selling for $6,092.00 and could be set in a traditional six prong white gold solitaire for $325.00 which puts you in the low 6’s for a total which isn’t bad for a one carat diamond engagement ring that is going to be the life of the party every time it enters a room! Another great option is this 1.023 carat, J-color, VS-1 clarity, Brian Gavin Blue diamond with strong blue fluorescence which is right around the same price!

Options which are higher in color:

There are a couple of Brian Gavin Signature round brilliant cut diamonds that caught my attention which weigh slightly less than a carat, but which are going to face-up pretty close because they are in the 0.90 – 0.99 carat weight classification. The first is this 0.918 carat, H-color, SI-2 clarity diamond which is currently selling for $5,509.00 and the other is this 0.913 carat, H-color, VS-2 clarity diamond which is selling for $6,500.00 with the only real difference between the two diamonds being the clarity grade… So the VS-2 clarity diamond is going to be completely eye clean from a top down perspective, and the SI-2 clarity diamond is going to be mostly eye clean with inclusions that you might be able to locate without magnification if you really look at the diamond closely, very closely… the difference in price between the two diamonds would pay for a pretty nice setting, something to think about.

So what should you do if your girlfriend has her heart set on something like the Brian Gavin Signature Halo engagement ring pictured above? It’s an extremely popular ring style right now, but it is going to eat up a little more than half of your declared budget… just pick up something like this 0.718 carat, H-color, VS-2 clarity, Brian Gavin Blue diamond with medium blue fluorescence, or this 0.782 carat, I-color, SI-1 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature diamond and you’ll be right on target in terms of price and it’s going to look great!

Another great option to explore when trying to figure out what various options are available in terms of diamond and ring combinations within a specified price range is our pre-selected engagement ring tool which is featured on the front page of our web site. I just gave it a try and it provided me with several great options ranging from traditional solitaire style engagement rings to more intricate designs with diamond accents, it is a great way to get an idea for how much ring your budget will buy.
