A Ring “Makeover” Story: Restoring a Treasured Engagement Ring
There is something special about a piece of jewelry that has already lived a life with you. An engagement ring is there through anniversaries, ordinary days, family moments, celebrations, and everything in between. Over time, it becomes more than the ring chosen for a proposal. It becomes part of the story.
That is why we were so honored when Matt reached out to us.
More than 12 years ago, Brian Gavin Diamonds created his wife’s engagement ring and wedding band. When her center diamond was lost after a prong snagged, Matt came back to us for help. We knew this was not just about replacing a diamond. It was about preserving a piece that carried more than a decade of meaning.
After finding the right replacement diamond, Matt decided to make the restoration even more special. His wife had always admired halo designs, so we custom-crafted a new halo head for her existing ring. This allowed us to give the ring the look she had always dreamed of while keeping the sentimental piece she already loved.
The transformation was thoughtful from start to finish. In addition to the new halo head, our team performed maintenance on the band and fully reconditioned the set, giving fresh life to a ring that had already represented so many years of love.
The result was a beautiful surprise for Matt’s wife and a meaningful new chapter for a ring with history.
This project is also a good reminder of how important jewelry maintenance can be. Routine wear can loosen or wear down prongs over time, especially on rings worn every day. A professional inspection once a year can help catch small issues before they become costly or heartbreaking ones.
If you wear your engagement ring daily, a yearly inspection is one of the simplest ways to help protect your diamond and keep your ring secure. Prongs, settings, and bands all experience normal wear, and even a well-made ring benefits from regular care.
At Brian Gavin Diamonds, we love helping clients create new pieces, but we also love helping preserve the ones that already mean so much. Whether it is replacing a diamond, refreshing a setting, adding a halo, or reconditioning a well-loved ring, a ring makeover can be a beautiful way to honor the past while creating something that feels new again.
Thank you, Matt, for trusting us once again. We are grateful to have been part of this ring’s original beginning and its beautiful next chapter.
