Alongside her husband and eldest daughter—also oceanographers—she’s spent her career studying the wonders of the sea. While they focus on coral reefs, she explores the intricate world of plankton, the tiny creatures that sustain those ecosystems. Their travels have taken them to places like the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the crystal-clear waters of Palawan, Philippines, where they’ve captured breathtaking underwater moments together.

Her twin daughters—both occupational therapists and fellow adventurers—now carry some of these heartfelt creations with them, honoring both their grandfather and their mother’s resilience.
