BGD Saves the Day for Customers During Hurricane Harvey

After eight years of business, Brian Gavin Diamonds has established an incredible customer base from around the globe. While our sparkle can be spotted on hands and in jewelry armoires around the world, few fans realize we're located in Houston, Texas. Over the past few weeks, the entire world's eyes were on our city, and the unity we saw during Hurricane Harvey changed our city and outlook.

While we deeply feel for our less fortunate neighbors, we're beyond grateful that our headquarters was left unscathed by the wrath of Harvey. Aside from the city's catastrophic flooding, Harvey caused one large issue: a halt on all shipments leaving Houston. With proposals and weddings planned around the world, founder Brian Gavin could not sit idly by in mailroom limbo. In the midst of a natural disaster, we still couldn't bear to disappoint our customers.

"There was one person getting married on Saturday and needed the rings," our vice president director of marketing Danny Gavin told JCK Online. "It was scary. FedEx, UPS, everything was shut down."

As the storm stalled over Houston for days, Brian was emboldened to get jewelry shipped on schedule. He embarked on a road trip to College Station, driving five and half hours in total, to bring seven packages to FedEx. While many roads were flooded and traffic was abundant, Brian was proud to have safely saved the day for expecting customers.

Thumbs up for great customer service! Through flood waters and traffic jams, Brian safely arrived at FedEx in College Station.

A few were kind enough to share their feedback on Trustpilot:

These folks are the finest in their business! The diamond rings arrived exactly on the day they had been promised. Sound easy? Not in this case. The management and staff at BGD had to contend with the chaos of Hurricane Harvey; they went above and beyond to get the rings out of Houston and into our hands! My girlfriend and I rate the matching platinum engagement and wedding pave rings as works of art, and the 1.5 ctw Hearts & Arrows diamond is breathtaking. Thank you all! You are a great team.

Order coincided with Hurricane Harvey, so admit I was a little concerned…especially given that the ring was a key component of a planned event. to requests and met advertised shipment and delivery schedule — despite Houston's storm of the century!!! Highly recommend Brian Gavin for securing that special ring for that special event.

"Houston is an amazing place. It's an example of a city that no matter your race or nationality, people are working together and it's an amazing thing to see," said Danny in his JCK Online interview. Aside from having a city with such a large heart, we are touched by the countless customer emails and warm social media messages received in the wake of the storm. (One former customer even invited the BGD family to stay in their Sonoma, California, home if we needed a temporary resistance!)

Brian was thrilled to send off sparkle to expectant BGD customers despite the storm.

Even the most successful companies would be nothing without loyal customers – we feel that through and through. Purchasing jewelry, especially engagement rings, is often an emotional transaction because these items are tokens of love. We're so grateful to be part of your love stories, marriages, celebrations, and special milestones that make life matter. We would not be where we are without you.

Thank you to our wonderful customers for making our Houston headquarters a place of happiness, even in difficult and dark times. Let us remember that aside from a pristine cut, it first takes pressure to make a diamond shine. Houston's faced its fair share of pressure, but the clouds have finally cleared, and the city will continue to sparkle brighter than ever before.
