Gents Wedding Bands, White or Yellow Gold?
Hi Danny, I purchased a platinum and diamond engagement ring from Brian Gavin about six months ago and now we’re shopping for wedding bands… I’ve noticed that most of the photographs for the men’s wedding bands from Brian Gavin are pictured in white gold, but I think that yellow gold looks best with my skin color, what are your thoughts? I tend to prefer more traditional designs, like the 5 mm comfort fit wedding band, but my fiancé wants me to wear something with diamonds, I’m hoping that you can make some recommendations that will bridge the gap between both worlds. – Brendon J.
Well Brendon, I’m going to begin by mentioning that most of the wedding bands offered by Brian Gavin are available in white gold, yellow gold, palladium, and platinum, regardless of how they are pictured on the web site. Simply click your mouse to the right of “Metal Type” to select the metal type of your preference…
As for what metal looks best on your skin, that really is a matter of personal preference, however I do think that a lot of it has to do with what we’re accustomed to seeing against our skin, and in the case of wedding bands, our preference often has to do with what we are used to seeing on the hands of our father’s, friends, and co-workers… and white metals, such as palladium and platinum, have only begun to become really popular over the past decade or so.
I’m guessing that your fiancé wants your wedding band to be platinum or 18k white gold so that it will look good next to her engagement ring in the wedding photographs, but the reality is that platinum and 18k yellow gold look really rich next to each other, so perhaps some middle ground can be found… but you might consider wearing an inexpensive 925 silver wedding ring on your ring finger for a few days to see if you can get more used to the color of white metal on your skin.
Diamond Wedding Bands from Brian Gavin:
Since you like the look and feel of a traditional comfort fit style wedding band, I think that you might like this 5 mm comfort fit wedding band which is set with a princess cut diamond which measures 2.4 mm, it provides you with a look and feel that you are comfortable with, and adds a diamond so that your fiancé will be happy! And it’s available in 18k yellow gold if you prefer.
Two more wedding bands which I really like that are based upon traditional concepts, are the 7 mm domed comfort fit wedding band with round diamonds which has a satin finish and milgrain edge, and our diamond cut, milgrain edge wedding band which is set with diamonds.
Brian Gavin offers an extensive collection of classic gents wedding bands and gents diamond wedding bands, in all of the popular styles and metal types, so I’m sure that you’ll be able to find a wedding band that will make both you and your fiancé extremely happy.
