Friction back vs Screw back diamond stud earrings

Friction back vs Screw back diamond stud earrings

Hi there, I’m wondering if there is a way to change the posts on my diamond studs to screw backs? Or does changing the posts from friction back to screw back require resetting the diamonds entirely? How much does converting the earrings from friction to screw back cost? Because the way they are set now does not seem very secure, especially when I wear my diamond studs with the earring jackets that we bought recently; they’ve already fallen out of my ears twice, so I’ve just decided to store them for now. – C.R.

It is not necessary to completely reset the diamonds in new settings, we can remove the friction back posts and laser weld on screw back posts for about a hundred dollars, plus the cost of insured shipping and handling. However some people do not like the way that screw back earrings feel when pushing the threaded posts through their ears, I’m told that they can hurt a bit when pushing through the piercing hole… then again, lots of women wear them and apparently never seem to notice because screw back earrings, like the pair of four prong screw back earrings pictured to the left, are extremely popular with our clients.

Jumbo earring backs vs Small earring backs:

Before deciding to change the posts on your diamond stud earrings from friction back to screw back, there is an alternative that you might want to consider… One of our clients switched out the smaller earring backs that come standard with the earrings, for a pair of push-on jumbo backs, and she loves them!

Before switching out the smaller friction back earring nuts for a pair of push-on jumbo backs, Esti indicated that her earrings kept falling off, but that the jumbo earring backs are amazing! I’ve attached a picture (left) that illustrates the difference in size between standard friction back earring nuts and jumbo size earring backs. We can always proceed with Plan B if they don’t work for you… just give me your address and I’ll ship them to you via Fed Ex 2nd day service, the cost is $50 in 14k white gold and you can just pay me over the phone. If you don’t like them for any reason, you can just return them when you send your earrings to us to have the posts changed over to screw back.

La Poussette locking earring backs:

This is a more expensive option than screw back posts and nuts, but it is the most secure earring back option available. Each earring back features a locking mechanism that is released by pressing down two tabs which are located on opposite sides of the outer edge of the earring back, and then the earring back can be slid on or off the post easily.

La Poussette locking back earring posts and nuts are very popular with our clients because the posts are not threaded, and the earring backs can be pushed up against the ears so that they feel just as snug as standard friction back earrings, but the locking back will not slide past the locking groove when properly placed in the ears, thus they provide a solution which combines the comfort and convenience of friction back posts, with the added security that screw back earrings have always provided.
