Buying a diamond solitaire for an anniversary
Hi Danny, I need your help selecting a diamond solitaire for an anniversary gift. We chose to go with simple wedding bands when we got married almost ten years ago, because we were still in college and money was tight. We’re renewing our vows on our upcoming 10 year anniversary, and I would love to present my bride with a Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond. Based upon the research that I’ve conducted, I think that I want something a little larger than one carat, F or G color, and VS-1 in clarity, because she commented that she really liked how pristine a friend’s diamond looked through a loupe when she saw it at a jewelry store recently. I think she would prefer a white gold solitaire of some sort, but something with a decorative flair which will make it unique. Thanks for your assistance. - Anthony J.
Well Anthony, I have to say that you’re definitely going to score some points by presenting your bride with a diamond engagement ring when you renew your vows on your ten year anniversary! That is an amazing idea; there won’t be a dry eye in the house…
VS-1 or VVS-2 clarity Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond:
This 1.260 carat, F-color, VS-1 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond is exactly what you asked for, and I think that it would look stunning set in the brand new 18k white gold, Brian Gavin Lace Solitaire which is available with diamond, blue sapphire, pink sapphire, or green tsavorite accent stones. The photograph to the right shows an 18k white gold Lace Solitaire wedding set with blue sapphire accents, note that the wedding band is sold separately.
I’m thinking that if your wife likes how pristine that a diamond can look through a 10x diamond grading loupe, that she might really enjoy the how clean this 1.213 carat, F-color, VVS-2 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond looks… although it is higher in clarity, it is actually costs a little bit less than the F-color, VS-1 clarity, diamond that I mentioned previously because of a special allocation of VVS clarity diamond rough that Brian was able to secure.
Both diamonds are going to look amazing to the naked eye, they both have an overall cut grade of AGS Ideal-0 and have been optimized to exhibit the maximum amount of light return, the primary difference between the diamonds is how pristine they appear when viewed through a 10x diamond grading loupe. And the reality is that most people would have difficulty locating the inclusions within a VS-1 clarity diamond to begin with, but why not purchase the higher clarity diamond since it is priced a little better at the moment?
The primary inclusions within the 1.213 carat, F-color, VVS-2 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond consist of a few tiny pinpoint size diamond crystals, which if you can find them, look like tiny particles of sparkling dust… One is located within the upper half of the diamond, as indicated along the right edge of the plotting diagram, and four are located in the lower half of the diamond, as indicated in the one o’clock region of the lower plotting diagram. No doubt that your wife will derive great pleasure trying to find them!
The inclusions within the 1.260 carat, F-color, VS-1 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond are a little easier to find, because they consist of a few diamond crystals which are located in the center region of the table facet. The diamond crystals appear to be quite small and are difficult to locate, but they are easier to find than the pinpoint size diamond crystals within the F-color, VVS-2 clarity diamond.
I hope that these options meet with your approval, and send you best wishes on your upcoming ten year anniversary! Oh don’t forget to give each of the eight hearts which are visible within every Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond some sort of special meaning, I’m sure that your wife would appreciate the gesture!
