Does diamond cut quality matter under half a carat?

Hi Danny, I purchased the diamond for my wife’s engagement ring from you about two years ago, and now we’re expecting our first child! The diamond which you helped us select for the engagement ring is a 1.70 carat, G-color, VS-2 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature round diamond, which my wife receives compliments on all the time from complete strangers! She held an impromptu class on the importance of diamond cut quality while standing in line for coffee the other day, because a woman standing two people behind her in line noticed her ring and wanted to know why it sparkled so beautifully (compared to hers). Anyway, we’re looking for a diamond pendant around a half carat to match, and are wondering whether diamond cut quality matters for diamonds weighing less than half a carat?
