VS1 vs SI1 with 2 carat cushion cut diamonds

"I'm in the market for a 2 carat cushion cut diamond engagement ring. Everything that I have read about the Brian Gavin Signature cushion cut diamond is extremely impressive. I am absolutely certain that I can settle for nothing less then the perfection offered by your brand. The three options currently available in 2 carat cushion cut diamonds from Brian Gavin are all F-color. Two of the diamonds are SI-1 in clarity, and one of the diamonds is VS-1 in clarity, which clarity grade should I choose? The difference in price between the VS-1 and SI-1 clarity diamonds is about ten thousand dollars. Will I be able to see an appreciable difference between the three diamonds?"

VS-1 versus SI-1 clarity cushion cut diamond:

The VS-1 clarity grade is used to describe diamonds which contain inclusions that appear to be “very slight” when viewed under 10x magnification. VS-1 clarity diamonds will always appear to be eye clean from a top-down perspective, and the inclusions within the diamond will be difficult to locate using 10x magnification.

The SI-1 clarity grade is used to describe diamonds which are “slightly included” and which contain inclusions that will be readily and immediately visible when the diamond is evaluated using 10x magnification. Most of the SI-1 clarity diamonds featured by Brian Gavin will appear to be eye clean when viewed at a normal distance, such as 9 – 12 inches. However, the inclusions may barely be visible if the diamond is scrutinized closely, especially from a distance of 3 – 4 inches. But who can focus on a diamond from a distance of three or four inches without having their eyes cross?

Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamonds:

One of the advantages offered by Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamonds, is that they deliver the highest volume of light return and sparkle factor. The high volume of light return and incredible sparkle make it even more difficult to locate the inclusions within our diamonds. Thus the real-world difference between an SI-1 and VS-1 clarity diamond becomes even less of a concern.

The actual difference between an SI-1 and VS-1 clarity Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond has more to do with the mind-clean properties of the diamond, as opposed to the actual difference in clarity. There is some peace of mind to be had in knowing that the VS-1 clarity grade makes it practically impossible to locate the inclusions with just your eyes… but the SI-1 clarity grade makes it possible for you to keep ten thousand dollars in your pocket!

The reality is that both the SI-1 clarity and VS-1 clarity Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamonds are going to deliver the same high volume of light return, and incredible degree of brilliance and dispersion in the form of broad spectrum sparkle. All three of these diamonds will capture the attention of people from across the room!

Thus the decision whether to purchase the VS-1 clarity Brian Gavin Signature Cushion cut diamond, over one of the two SI-1 clarity, BGD Signature diamonds has more do with with your personal preferences pertaining to the internal clarity grade of the diamonds, than real world performance. From our perspective, all three of these diamonds is exceptional!
