Curved Diamond Anniversary Ring - Peggy

Should diamond anniversary bands be straight or fitted?

“My fiancé recently proposed with a beautiful Brian Gavin Signature round diamond, that is set in the Peggy setting by Brian Gavin, and I couldn’t be happier! He wasn’t sure whether I would prefer a straight or fitted diamond anniversary band, and honestly I’m not sure which ring style I prefer either. I’m not sure that I like the look of the gap created by the straight wedding band for the Peggy setting, because of the way the band stands out from the side of the ring due to the prong configuration; but I like the idea of being able to wear the straight band without the engagement ring, and think that the Peggy curved band might look a bit strange worn by itself. What do you recommend?”

Straight versus curved diamond anniversary band:

Straight Diamond Anniversary Ring - Peggy from BGDThe gap created by the prong configuration on the Peggy setting by Brian Gavin which pushes a straight edge diamond anniversary band off the edge of the ring at the top, is something which affects pretty much all diamond anniversary rings, because the base of the prong section is often slightly wider than the width of the engagement ring at the top, and the ring would look awkward and top heavy if the prong section were placed on top of the ring, instead of being set down into the ring.

There will still be a slight gap that is visible between the two rings when the Peggy setting by Brian Gavin is matched up with the Peggy curved band, but the difference between the two rings will be much less noticeable; however I have to say that the gap that exists between the Peggy setting and the straight band is much less noticeable in-person than it seems to appear in the photograph, and everybody seems to be just fine with it, since it is a normal thing with straight edge wedding bands.

Should I solder my engagement ring and wedding band together?

The straight wedding band for the Peggy setting by Brian Gavin certainly could be worn separately, but then again, you might want to solder the two rings together, so that they don’t separate when being worn on your finger.

I would definitely recommend that you solder your engagement ring and wedding band together if you purchase the Peggy curved band to accompany the Peggy setting, because otherwise it is extremely likely that the two rings will spin on your finger in such a way that the rings do not fit together properly when worn.

Another reason why it is a good idea to solder your engagement ring and wedding band together is to reduce metal stress and wear created on the edge of the rings, by their rubbing up against each other while being worn, and turning on the finger.

You might consider purchasing another diamond anniversary band, or perhaps just a traditional wedding band to wear at times when you do not want to wear your diamond wedding set for some reason, a lot of our clients do this and find that it provides an excellent solution.
