Custom Brian Gavin Rose Gold Halo Engagement Ring

Rose Gold Engagement Ring

Hi Danny, my girlfriend really likes the look of rose gold and seems to prefer diamonds with what she refers to as the softer tones of summer, so I’ve been looking through the selection of rose gold engagement rings from Brian Gavin and think that I’ve decided on the Brian Gavin custom halo in 18k rose gold. This leaves me with a budget of about $9k for the diamond, what do you recommend I select as a center stone? – Skip S.H

Diamonds that look great in rose gold:

best-color-diamonds-for-rose-gold-brian-gavin-agsl104062572002While I’ve discovered that just about any color of diamond looks great in rose gold, it seems that rose gold is the perfect accompaniment for diamonds of warmer color tones, such as this 1.346 carat, K-color, VS-1 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature round diamond which exhibits a spectacular pattern of hearts and arrows as a result of being cut to a superior level of optical symmetry. While this pattern of hearts and arrows will not be visible once the diamond is mounted, the incredible sparkle which results from this level of cut precision certainly will be and the proportions will deliver maximum light return too!

So this diamond is going to provide the warmer tones that your girlfriend prefers and the proportions which are right in the middle of the center of the range designated for the zero ideal cut proportions rating are going to deliver a high volume of light return and give the diamond a sparkling personality that will leap out to people from across the room!

Measuring brightness in diamonds:

Brian Gavin is one of a small handful of diamond cutters who sends all of his production to the American Gem Society Laboratory (AGSL) for grading because of the insight provided by their use of Angular Spectrum Evaluation Technology (ASET) which is included in their proprietary Light Performance Diamond Quality Document. The color red which appears on the ASET diagram pictured to the right represents the highest level of brightness being reflected by the diamond, while the color green is the second brightest and the color blue is used to represent the contrast created by the shadow created by our heads as it reflects off of the eight pavilion main facets located on the lower half of the diamond. This diamond received an overall cut grade of AGS Ideal-0 which takes light performance, polish, symmetry and proportions into account, it doesn’t get any better than this.

What is the composition of 18k rose gold?

Since you’re considering an 18k rose gold engagement ring, I thought you might like to know how rose gold is alloyed because you are likely to get lots of questions about it from family members, friends and co-workers who might not have seen a rose gold ring before.

From the perspective of alloying gold for the creation of karat jewelry, we look upon “pure 24k gold” in the form of 24 parts, likewise we look upon 18k gold as consisting of 18 parts gold, mixed with 6 parts of other alloys which are used to change the color and hardness of gold to make it more suitable for jewelry fabrication.

The basic formula for creating 18k Rose gold is to mix 75% yellow gold, with 21% copper which gives it the pink color, and 4% silver which provides durability and hardness.

Here’s another tid bit of gold alloy knowledge that you can amaze your friends with… In Europe, gold karat jewelry is measured in parts per thousand; therefore 18k rose gold which consists of 75% gold would be labeled 750 because it has 750 parts per thousand.
