One of a Kind! Eight carat round diamond with hearts and arrows

Eight carats, eight hearts, perfect.

In the world of diamond cutting, the pinnacle of perfection for cutters who produce round brilliant cut diamonds, is the round hearts and arrows cut. The diamond is a modern round brilliant cut, which features the exact same facet structure of a traditional round brilliant cut diamond. However, the production standards of Brian Gavin Signature round hearts and arrows diamonds, improves on the basic design of a round diamond, by surpassing the industry standards for optical precision. Diamond grading laboratories such as the AGSL, EGL, GIA, HRD, IGI, and others, grade diamonds for polish and symmetry, but do not grade the degree of optical precision.

Which is crazy by our standards, because it the degree of optical precision that a diamond exhibits has a direct impact on the sparkle factor. Optical precision in round brilliant cut diamonds is judged by the degree of perfection exhibited by the hearts pattern, which can only be formed correctly if all of the facets have been precisely aligned, and are the same relative size per section of shape, and quite literally aligned from the perspective of 360 degrees in relationship to one another.

Optical Precision in Round Diamonds:

When the highest level of optical precision on a round brilliant cut diamond has been achieved, the diamond will exhibit the pattern of eight symmetrical and evenly shaped hearts pictured above, which means that this 8.108 carat, J-color, VS-2 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature round diamond is cut to the most exceptional standards on earth. It is quite literally, one of the best cut diamonds that exists on the planet.

We think that the concept of a diamond weighing eight carats, and which exhibits eight hearts to provide a kind of perfect symmetry, a perfect balance, and think that you’ll find that it looks perfect on her finger, but the Federal Trade Commission guidelines for jewelry prohibit us from describing a diamond as “perfect” because any kind of gem stone that of natural origin is going to contain natural imperfections, inclusions, or flaws, but we find ourselves perfectly amazed by this diamond, and are absolutely mesmerized by it, and we’re sure that you will be also.

What creates the Arrows Pattern:

8-carat-diamond-brian-gavin-signature-arrows-agsl-104082870001Quite a few people seem to be confused about which parts of the pattern pictured for our diamonds constitutes the pattern of “Hearts and Arrows” that we constantly refer to in our articles. The blue arrows pattern pictured to the left is the “arrows pattern” and the photograph featured at the top of this article that shows a pattern of eight hearts, is the “hearts pattern” portion of a Hearts and Arrows diamond. The eight arrowheads that appear at the center of the hearts pattern is not the arrows pattern, and will always vary in size and shape. Thus when we grade H&A diamonds for optical precision, we are only focused on the primary hearts and arrows patterns.

The arrows pattern photograph was taken using an ASET Scope instead of a traditional hearts and arrows scope, as the hearts pattern was taken with, because it provides the additional insight of letting us know where in the room the diamond is gathering light from. The high volume of red indicates that the diamond is gathering the majority of light from the brightest light source within the room. The green color represents the second brightest light source, and the color blue represents the contrast created by the camera lens blocking light from entering the diamond and reflecting off of the pavilion main facets, which create the arrows pattern.
