How to maximize the color of blue fluorescent diamonds

How to maximize the color of blue fluorescent diamonds

“I'm very interested in getting a blue fluorescent diamond (around .6ct), and am glad to see the selection has increased over the past few weeks. I have a couple of questions. 1) A common complaint of fluorescent diamonds is that they are translucent or milky. Brian Gavin Diamonds claims to address this by hand picking diamonds that do not have this problem. Is there any technique or objective measure that is used besides personal professional judgement? 2) Do you have any tips for what kinds of lighting maximize the blue color? I'd like to reproduce the appearance of the diamond in Brian Gallardo's video.”

Great video on blue fluorescence in diamonds:

maximizing-color-blue-fluorescent-diamonds-bgd-104049676001Isn’t the video by our customer Brian Gallardo simply fantastic? It shows this 1.35 carat, F-color, SI-1 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature diamond which exhibits medium blue fluorescence, in a variety of lighting environments. The type of common lighting scenarios which most people are likely to encounter during the course of their day. I especially like the way the diamond shimmers in front of the fire light! I’m wondering if you loved seeing all those spectral colors and the fire of the diamond as much as we did. If you like the way the diamond looks in the video, just wait until you see a Brian Gavin Signature diamond in-person.

Incredible Light Performance – Right?

Imagine what it’s going to be like for you and your fiancé to appreciate your Brian Gavin Signature blue fluorescent diamond in all of those lighting environments… Walking around the house, being amazed by how spectacular the diamond looks in every room!

After watching a video like this, doesn’t it make you wonder why some people just don’t see the value of owning a diamond that is truly remarkable? I don’t know if they simply don’t know that such diamonds exist, or whether they simply didn’t understand the importance of diamond cut quality, and the effect that it has upon sparkle factor. But you can sure see it in the video, can you not? Isn’t it crazy that some people are investing a great deal of money in diamonds right now, without understanding the importance of diamond cut quality? Lucky for you, that you discovered Brian Gavin.

Highlighting that Gorgeous Icy Blue Look:

I’m not sure exactly which part of the video you are looking to re-create specifically in terms of the maximizing the blue color, but each section of the video indicates the type of lighting used at that moment. One of my favorite sections in the video begins at 1:43 where the diamond is being viewed in the living room, which is illuminated by a mixture of fluorescent and halogen lighting. This type of lighting really brings out the icy blue color that so many people crave.

Pay particular attention to how the appearance of the diamond changes as you see it in all the different types of lighting presented in this video. It never ceases to amaze me, how the personality of a diamond can change as it moves from room to room… Showing this beautiful icy blue color one moment, and then transitioning into crystal clear perfection in the very next frame of the video, as it is seen in filtered sunlight through a window in the house.

And how about that shot of the diamond at the 2:54 mark in the video? Yowza! If that moment of spectral bliss doesn’t take your breath away!
