How much is a 4 carat diamond?

How much is a 4 carat diamond?

“This might not be the most practical of questions, but just out of curiosity, how much is a 4 carat diamond? Is it four times the price of a one carat diamond? I think that the optimum combination of quality for me would be G-color and VS-2 clarity. I’m told that this combination of color and clarity will ensure that a 4 carat diamond faces-up eye clean and bright white. Is this true? Do you have other recommendations as to the best color and clarity for a 4 carat diamond? Note that I was unable to locate any 4 carat, G-color, VS-2 clarity, diamonds in your inventory. Which is why I’m asking how much is a 4 carat diamond. Thank you for your time.”

Prices for 4 carat diamonds:

The price of a four carat diamond depends on the exact combination of carat weight, color, clarity, and cut quality. The price of a 4 carat diamond is going to be significantly higher than the price of a one carat diamond of the same quality. It will also be significantly higher than four times the amount of a one carat diamond. The reason for this is due to rarity of larger diamond rough crystals.

The diamond rough used to produce a one carat diamond is going to weight between 2.00 – 2.50 carats on average. While the size of diamond rough required to produce a 4 carat diamond, is going to be more like 8 – 10 carats and maybe a little more. It all depends on the nature and structure of each piece of diamond rough, which is as unique as a snowflake.
