The Differences between the brands of Brian Gavin Diamonds

Over the years, Brian Gavin has developed two distinct brands to distinguish the classifications of diamonds which we sell. Understanding the differences between Brian Gavin Signature Diamonds and the Brian Gavin Blue Collection will make it easier for you to decide which product line is right for you.

Brian Gavin Signature Diamonds:

Only the finest cut diamonds are selected for the Brian Gavin Signature Collection, which consists of Round Brilliant Ideal Cut Diamonds which exhibit crisp and complete patterns of Hearts & Arrows, Princess Cut Diamonds, and the new Brian Gavin Cushion Cut Diamond which exhibits a stunning pattern of Hearts & Arrows.

Brian oversees the production for all of the diamonds featured in the Brian Gavin Signature Collection, to ensure that they are cut to his exacting standards for proportions, polish and symmetry. Each of the diamonds is sent to the American Gemological Society Laboratory (AGSL) for grading and must receive an overall cut grade of AGS Ideal-0 on their Proprietary Light Performance grading platform, which is the most difficult rating to achieve within our industry.

The benefits to the AGS Ideal-0 rating for overall cut grade and light performance, is that it ensures our customers that the diamond which they purchase will exhibit a superior level of light return, suffice to say that it is likely to be the brightest diamond in the room!

Hearts Arrows Diamond Brian Gavin agsl 104063637007To ensure that your Brian Gavin Signature Diamond will be the most vibrant, sparkliest diamond in the room, each one is cut to exhibit a crisp and complete pattern of Hearts and Arrows. The pattern of hearts which you see within this round brilliant cut diamond pictured to the left, is the result of extremely precise shaping and alignment of the facets within each section of the diamond. If even a single facet is slightly off or misshapen, the pattern will appear disjointed and irregular.

An in-depth study on the subject of brilliance, dispersion, and scintillation in round brilliant cut diamonds, conducted by the American Gem Society Laboratory in 2007, determined that diamonds which exhibit a crisp and complete pattern of hearts and arrows, and which warrant an overall cut grade of AGS Ideal-0 on their Proprietary Light Performance grading platform, exhibit a measurably superior amount of light return and a higher degree of sparkle factor.

Brian Gavin is a 5th generation diamond cutter, who is internationally recognized for his contributions to the establishment of a standardized system for grading Hearts & Arrows Diamonds. The degree of optical symmetry which is visible within his production of Signature Hearts & Arrows Diamonds is readily visible within the hearts images which we provide on the diamond details pages for all of our Signature Diamonds.

The Brian Gavin Blue Collection:

Brian Gavin Blue Collection AGS 104067041015The diamonds featured in the "Brian Gavin Blue" Collection are not actually blue in color, but rather exhibit blue fluorescence when viewed under black light, as can be seen in the photograph pictured to the left, which was photographed under black light in a pitch black room. Blue fluorescence in diamonds is created by the presence of boron molecules within the diamond crystal, the boron glows when the diamond is exposed to ultra violet light.

The primary distinction between diamonds featured in the Brian Gavin Blue Collection and Brian Gavin Signature Diamonds is the presence of blue fluorescence, the diamonds from each collection are produced on the same production line by the same diamond cutters, with the production quality being monitored by Brian Gavin.

All Brian Gavin Diamonds are Conflict Free:

Regardless of whether you choose a diamond from the Brian Gavin Signature Collection, or the Brian Gavin Blue Collection, or one of the Brian Gavin Select Diamonds, rest assured that all of our diamonds are conflict free, in accordance with the provisions of the Kimberley Diamond Act of 2003.

This means that we only work with diamonds which have been sourced from legitimate sources, and which originate from "conflict free" regions of the world, where the local population is not being exploited for the diamonds to be mined.
