Best Diamond Pendant Designs for a Round

Hi Danny, I purchased a diamond engagement ring with the help of Lesley several years ago, and my wife seems to enjoy looking at it just as much today as the first day I placed it on her finger. We are expecting our first child and I’d like to buy her a diamond pendant to commemorate the occasion. I’ve narrowed the choices down to either this 0.913 carat, H-color, VS-2 clarity or this 0.914 carat, G-color, VS-2 clarity diamond. What do you think? Do you have a preference for one diamond or the other? And what are the best options in terms of designs for a solitaire style diamond pendant? I know that the four prong solitaire is pretty popular, but it’s also kind of boring. What do you suggest? - Thomas C.

Diamond Solitaire Style Pendants:

Congratulations on the new addition to your family Thomas, I’m sure the two of you are very excited and a diamond solitaire style pendant is a great way to commemorate the occasion! You are correct in your assumption that the four prong solitaire style pendant pictured to the right is an extremely popular choice with our clients; it is a design which is classic and timeless. There are more modern variations of pendant design which might be more interesting in terms of design, such as the 18k yellow gold, half bezel style solitaire pictured at the top of this article, which cradles the diamond on two sides with a rim of shiny gold that leaves the top and bottom edges exposed.

Bezel Set Diamond Solitaire Pendants:

Bezel setting diamonds is a popular choice because they provide a unique and modern look which uses a rim of metal to hold the diamond in place instead of prongs. This bezel set diamond solitaire from Brian Gavin differs from the half bezel set solitaire in that the metal rim runs all the way around the diameter of the diamond. This design also encompasses a chain made up of round beads instead of links for a little extra flair. You didn’t mention whether your wife preferred 18k white gold, 18 yellow gold, 14k rose gold, or platinum but the majority of our pendant designs are available in all of these metals in an effort to appeal to the personal preferences of every client.

3 Prong Martini Diamond Solitaire Pendant:

3 Prong Martini style settings are an extremely popular choice among women who have ordered diamond stud earrings from us, so we created this 3 prong Martini solitaire style pendant to match their earrings. This is a great option if you’ve already purchased a pair of 3 prong Martini style diamond earrings for your wife, or if you’d like to buy a pendant with a design configuration that you can expand on later by adding a pair of diamond earrings to the set.

As far as the two diamonds which you referenced in your inquiry, I don’t have a preference for one diamond over the other because both are Brian Gavin Signature round diamonds which are cut to the same level of diamond cut quality and proportions, thus they are going to exhibit the same amount of light return and sparkle factor.

Both diamonds exhibit a crisp and complete pattern of hearts and arrows, which is evidence of the superior level of optical symmetry that the facets have been cut to, and both diamonds are graded with an overall cut grade of AGS Ideal-0 by the AGS Laboratory.
