Are Johnny Depp and Amber Heard engaged?
E! Entertainment is reporting that Johnny Depp and actress Amber Heard might be engaged and has released this photograph of Amber Heard which does seem to show a diamond engagement ring on her finger.
The picture of the ring is definitely not clear and it is difficult to ascertain the exact design of the ring because it is twisted on her finger so that the view of the ring is skewed, but I’m able to see enough of the ring to feel reasonably comfortable making an educated guess as to what the design of Amber Heard’s diamond engagement ring might be.
There are telltale signs of the ring design which are typical of a specific style of engagement ring and I definitely think I know what the ring looks like… the question is whether I’m right or not, and I suppose that the only way to tell for certain is to voice my opinion and time will tell as they say… I think we even offer a ring very similar to this.
Classic Round with Tapered Baguette Accent Stones:
From a side profile, I think that Amanda Heard’s diamond engagement ring looks very similar to the Sasha engagement ring from Brian Gavin which is pictured to the left in 14k yellow gold. One of the features that I notice about Amanda Heard’s engagement ring in the picture provided by E! Entertainment is that there are two strips of metal running horizontally across the upper shank of the ring that border a sparkling section of diamond, which is typical of this ring design which features a tapered baguette shape accent stone on either side of the round brilliant cut center stone, but I’m guessing that her ring is two tone with a platinum upper half and an 18k yellow gold ring shank.
How large is the diamond in Amanda Heard’s ring?
It’s kind of difficult to judge the size and shape of the center stone, but I have a feeling that it is a round brilliant cut diamond somewhere in quality and size between this 1.511 carat, E-color, VS-2 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature Diamond and this 2.283 carat, G-color, VS-2 clarity, Brian Gavin Signature Diamond, but it really doesn’t look all that large in the picture. Of course, it can be pretty difficult to gauge the size of a diamond from a photograph, especially one which does not show the ring all that clearly!
I’ll be anxiously waiting to see additional photographs of the engagement ring that Amanda Heard reportedly received from Johnny Depp to see if my educated guess is anywhere close to being right, both in terms of the overall design of the ring and the size of the center stone. The odds are that even if a better close-up of the ring is published that we’ll never know the exact clarity and color of the diamond, but perhaps they will reveal the carat weight of the center stone!
